Guiding Hungry Visitors

My name is Mark, and I am fifteen years old. Every summer, my town has a huge food festival in the central square. I really love eating different meals, so this year I decided to become a volunteer. My job was not to cook the meals. I had to stand near the entrance and give visitors a map of the area.

On Saturday morning, the festival was incredibly busy. A lot of people asked me for directions. At eleven o’clock, a large family came to me because they were lost. They really wanted to find the Spanish tent to buy some traditional pizza. I looked at my map and walked with them to the correct street. They were very happy.

In the afternoon, the organisers told me to take a break. All the volunteers could choose one free meal from any stall. I usually eat burgers or chicken, but I decided to try something new. I got a bowl of spicy noodles from the Mexican tent. It was quite hot, but it was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten!

At eight o’clock in the evening, the festival closed. My legs were tired because I stood for a long time, but I felt fantastic. I enjoyed talking to so many friendly visitors. Next year, I am definitely going to volunteer at the festival again, but I hope to help the bands near the music stage!
