My Future as an Animal Hero

My name is Lucas and I am fifteen years old. Many of my friends want to be doctors or teachers in the future. I want to do something different. I really want to become an animal rescue officer. I always watch programmes on television about people who help animals in danger.

The idea started last winter. I was walking home from school when I saw a small dog in the cold street. It looked very hungry and dirty, and somebody was very cruel to it. I immediately phoned the local animal centre. A friendly rescue officer arrived quickly in a special van. She gently caught the frightened dog and took it to a safe place.
