My Quiet Mountain Escape

My name is Leo, and I live in a large, noisy city. There are always cars and lots of people everywhere. But every summer, my family goes to our small wooden cabin in the mountains. It is my favourite place in the whole world.

The cabin is very simple. We don’t have a television, and my mobile phone doesn’t work up there because there is no internet. Most of my school friends say that a holiday without internet is really boring. However, I think it is amazing. I love the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. When I wake up, I only hear the birds singing.

During the day, I never get bored. I usually spend my time reading books or walking in the forest with my dad. Last week, we were sitting outside the cabin when we saw a large deer. It was looking at us carefully before it ran away into the trees. It was a beautiful moment.

We have to go back to the city next Monday because school is starting soon. I am going to miss the silence of the mountains. The city is exciting, but the cabin is the best place to relax. I have already asked my parents to take me back there in the winter!

Toby’s High-Tech Holiday

Seventeen-year-old Toby usually goes camping with his family during the summer holidays. But this year, his parents decided to visit a big modern city for a few days. A Huge Thank You to the Blue Sea Hotel

Dear Blue Sea Hotel Staff,

My name is Tom and my family and I stayed at your fantastic hotel last week. We had a wonderful summer holiday, but unfortunately, something terrible happened on our last morning. When we were packing our bags to go home, I realised my smartphone was missing.

I looked everywhere for it. First, I searched inside my large suitcase, and then I checked my jacket pocket. Then, I remembered taking some photos near the swimming pool before breakfast. I felt extremely upset because the phone was a new birthday present from my parents.

We didn’t have time to look for it because we had to catch our train. While we were travelling back, my dad decided to call my number. A friendly receptionist answered the call! She explained that a cleaner found the phone under a towel on a sunbed. The receptionist promised to send it to my house.

Only two days later, a small package arrived at my home in London. My phone was inside, and it worked perfectly! I am writing this letter to say a huge thank you to all your team. You are amazing, honest people. My parents are planning our next summer trip, and we will definitely return to your hotel!
