A Noisy Summer Trip
Fourteen-year-old Lucas loves the summer holidays. In July, his parents rented a beautiful large house near the beach for the whole family. Lucas was very excited to go surfing. But when they arrived, his mum gave him some bad news. The house was full, so Lucas had to share a small bedroom with his two younger cousins, Max and Leo.
The first three days were terrible. The bedroom was completely full of clothes and toys. Max and Leo woke up at six o’clock every morning and played noisy video games on their tablets. Because of the loud sounds, Lucas couldn’t sleep. During the day, he felt extremely tired and a bit angry. He just wanted to go home.
Finally, Lucas decided to speak to his aunt about the problem. She immediately went to the supermarket and bought the boys some headphones. She also told them they must play their games outside in the garden. After that, the boys were much quieter inside. Lucas actually started taking them to the beach to teach them how to swim.
When the two weeks finished, Lucas felt completely different. He was sad to say goodbye to his cousins. Now he is back in his own quiet bedroom at home. It is peaceful, but he actually misses sharing a room with Max and Leo. He hopes they can all go on holiday together again next year.

A Brilliant Hotel Breakfast
Hi everyone! I’m Jamie and my family is staying at the Grand Plaza Hotel for our summer holiday. The hotel has a huge swimming pool and our room is very comfortable, but for me, the best part of this trip is the breakfast!
Every morning, we go down to the dining room at eight o’clock. When you walk in, you can see large tables with every kind of food. First, I always visit the hot food section. I usually get some eggs and a few sausages. My dad loves the hot food too, but my sister never eats it.
After that, it is time for my favourite part: the sweet food! There are fresh croissants, cakes, and amazing pancakes. I like to put a lot of chocolate sauce and strawberries on my pancakes. You can also make your own juice. I always mix orange and apple juice together. It tastes fantastic!
By the end of the meal, my stomach is completely full. We eat so much in the morning that we never feel hungry at lunchtime! We usually just have a small snack in the afternoon. If you ever visit this city, you should definitely stay at the Grand Plaza Hotel, just to try their morning buffet!

A Step Back in Time
Last week, I travelled to an ancient town in the mountains with my family. We didn’t stay in a modern hotel. Instead, my parents booked a room in a traditional guest house. It was over 300 years old! When we arrived, the owner was waiting outside to welcome us.
The room was very different from my bedroom at home. There were no chairs or beds. We had to sit on the floor, and we slept on thin mattresses. At first, I thought it was going to be uncomfortable, but I actually slept really well. The only problem was that the room was quite cold at night.
The next morning, we got up early to explore the town. The streets were very narrow, and there were no cars. I loved walking past the old wooden buildings. We visited a small museum and then ate some amazing local food for lunch. My younger sister bought a beautiful fan in a little shop.
Before this trip, I only wanted to go to big cities with lots of shops and cinemas. Now, I think I prefer quiet, historical places. The traditional guest house was a fantastic experience. I’m going to tell all my friends at school about it, and I hope I can visit another ancient town next year.
