Writing My Way Along the Coast

Sixteen-year-old Lily loves exploring new places. Every summer, she travels to different countries with her parents. This year, they are driving along the coast of Spain. Lily decided to keep a travel diary to remember everything about her trip. She bought a beautiful blue notebook at the airport before their flight.

Last Tuesday, they visited a busy coastal city. The weather was extremely hot, so they spent the morning swimming in the sea. In the afternoon, Lily’s father wanted to visit the famous fish market. Lily didn’t like the smell of the fish at all, but she took some amazing photos of the big boats.

Yesterday, the family drove to a quiet historic town. It was very different from the modern city. The streets were narrow and the buildings were hundreds of years old. They climbed to the top of an old castle. The walk was tiring, but the view of the ocean was fantastic. Lily wrote three pages in her diary about it.

The Perfect Suitcase

Fifteen-year-old Jamie is going on a three-week summer holiday to Spain with his family. He is very excited, but he has a big problem. Every time he goes on a trip, he packs too many things. His suitcase is always completely full and very messy. Last year, he couldn’t even close it!

This time, Jamie decided to change. He watched some helpful travel videos on the internet. In the videos, experts explained that you should make a list before you start. They also showed a clever trick: you should roll your clothes instead of folding them. Rolling clothes saves a lot of space.

On Saturday, Jamie started packing his bag. First, he wrote down everything he needed. Next, he put his heavy shoes at the bottom of the suitcase. Then, he carefully rolled all his T-shirts and shorts. When his mother walked into his bedroom, she was very surprised. His clothes looked tidy, and there was still some empty space inside the bag!

Every time her family goes on holiday, she always looks for two specific things to bring home: a postcard and a hotel room key.

Her hobby started three years ago during a trip to the seaside. She bought a beautiful picture card of the beach to send to her grandmother, but she decided to keep it as a memory of the fun week instead. Later that same day, she found a plastic room key in her pocket that she forgot to leave at the reception. From that moment, her collection began to grow very quickly.

Now, Chloe has a large box under her bed filled with items from dozens of different places. She is especially proud of a golden key she got from a luxury hotel in Paris and a very old postcard she found in a small shop in Rome. She often spends her Sunday afternoons looking through her collection, remembering the stories behind each object.

Chloe’s friends think her hobby is a bit unusual, but they often help her find new items when they go on their own trips.
