A Relaxing Day by the Sea

Oliver

I decided to visit the coast yesterday afternoon. The sky was clear and the blue ocean looked amazing. However, the water felt too cold to jump in, so I just stayed on my soft towel. I spent hours turning the pages of my new novel. After a while, the sound of the waves made me feel very relaxed. I actually closed my eyes and rested for about an hour under my umbrella! When I woke up, I bought a quick chocolate ice cream from a shop nearby, but I decided to go home before it got dark.

Maya

My sister and I spent the whole Saturday by the sea. We prepared some cheese sandwiches and apples at home to enjoy on our towels, so we didn’t need to buy anything there. I didn’t want to look at any books, so I just listened to music. Later, I walked along the water looking for beautiful small shells. I put a few in my bag to keep. The best part was the evening. We didn’t leave until the stars came out, and watching the dark ocean was a perfect way to end the trip.

Lucas

I got to the sea very early, while the sky was still pink and empty. It’s my favorite time because it’s so quiet. Even though the air was a bit cool, I couldn’t wait to jump into the waves. The water felt fantastic! I saw some tiny fish swimming around my feet, but I left them alone. I played in the water so much that I was really hungry by the time I got out. I didn’t bring any snacks with me, and I certainly wasn’t tired, so I walked into town to find a warm breakfast.

River Camping Trips

Max

When we first arrived, the water looked very dark and fast, and I was quite scared. I thought we might fall in! But we stayed in a safe place. I made sure I packed everything I needed before we left, including a good fishing rod. We didn’t go into the water because it was moving too quickly, but we caught some nice fish. I was the chef for the trip, so I made breakfast and cooked our food on the fire every evening. The sound of the river was actually quite relaxing, and I slept perfectly in my tent.

Chloe

I love being outside, so I wasn’t frightened of the water at all. I really wanted to jump in, but the temperature was just too low. Even putting my feet in was freezing! Instead of swimming, I spent a lot of time walking along the edge of the river. Early one morning, I was lucky enough to watch two wild deer drinking right next to our camp. I’m terrible at cooking, so my job was just to clean the plates after we ate. Three days by the river was the perfect amount of time for a holiday.

Toby

Our camp was right next to the river. Because the water was travelling so fast over the rocks, it was incredibly loud. During the first night, I stayed awake for hours listening to it. I also felt a bit cold because I left my thick winter sweater in my bedroom! Luckily, my friend had an extra blanket. I walked into the forest hoping to spot some bears or foxes, but I didn’t find any. We had to go home after just a weekend. We only had two nights there, and I really didn’t want to leave so soon!

Hiking in the Desert

Alex

I went to the desert with my walking club last weekend. It was really dry, but I carried a lot to drink in my bag, so I was absolutely fine. At one point, I tried to take a photo of a large snake that crossed the sand in front of us! However, I dropped my camera on a hard rock and it stopped turning on. That was quite sad, but I stayed close to our guide and just enjoyed the rest of the hike.

Ben

I didn’t go with any friends, I just hiked alone. The hike was much harder than I thought it would be. The sand got inside my boots and they really hurt my feet by the end of the day. Also, my backpack was heavy, so I only packed two small bottles of liquid. That was a bad idea, as I drank it all quickly and felt very thirsty later. I didn’t see any snakes or lizards, but the views of the landscape were beautiful.

Charlie

The desert is beautiful, but the weather can be difficult. I had a great map, but I still couldn’t find the right track and got lost for about an hour. Fortunately, my phone still worked perfectly to help me find the path again. Later, the midday sun felt like a fire. I decided to sit under some tall rocks and wait until it got cooler before continuing. My new walking trainers were fantastic, though, so my feet felt great!
