Catching a Cold

Jamie

On Friday evening, I felt completely fine, but on Saturday morning I woke up with a terrible cough. I had to stay under the blankets all weekend. I was so upset because my best friend was turning fifteen and I couldn’t go to his birthday dinner! I didn’t sleep very much during the day. Instead, I used my tablet to enjoy four or five long action movies. My dad wanted to bring me some hot soup, but I wasn’t hungry at all.

Chloe

I walked home in a heavy storm without an umbrella, and the next day my head hurt and my throat was very sore. I am sure that is why I caught a cold! I felt extremely tired, so I kept my eyes closed for almost the whole two days. I didn’t turn on the television to see any programmes. When I finally woke up for a few hours, I opened a history book to finish a reading task for my teacher. I only got out of bed to make myself some hot tea.

The weather was actually warm and sunny, but I still got a terrible temperature. It started during my last math lesson on Friday afternoon. Computer Headaches

Leo

Last week, I spent six hours staring at my laptop. My screen was shining directly into my eyes, which was a bad idea. I drank plenty of tea, but my head still started hurting badly. Because the pain was so terrible, I just couldn’t complete my history project and had to turn off the computer. I felt really tired, so I just lay down under my blankets and closed my eyes for the rest of the afternoon. When I woke up, I felt fine again. Next time, I will take more breaks.

Mia

On Friday evening, I had to write a long geography report. I managed to finish all my homework, but afterwards, my head felt like it was going to explode! I tried to shut my eyes, but I couldn’t rest. Finally, I asked my mum for a headache pill, and swallowed it with some juice. That helped a lot. My dad says looking at screens for too long is the problem. Tomorrow, I’m going to the shops to get some special computer glasses. Hopefully, they will stop the bad light from hurting me again.

Noah

I got a terrible headache on Sunday morning after reading articles on my computer for hours. I think I know why I felt so ill. The weather was cloudy and it got very dark outside, but I didn’t switch on my desk lamp. Also, I was so busy looking at the display that I didn’t have a single drop to drink all day! I hate taking medicine, so I just walked around the garden for some fresh air instead. I already have a great screen, but I definitely need to remember to look after myself.

Too Much Junk Food!

Harry

Last Saturday, I went to my cousin’s birthday. There were so many pizzas and burgers! I was very thirsty, so I had six big cups of lemonade. That was a mistake! Later that evening, my stomach really hurt. I actually slept very well, so I wasn’t tired the next morning. However, I still felt terrible. My team had an important football match, but I had to stay in bed and couldn’t join them. My dad offered me something from the pharmacy, but I just drank water. I will be more careful next time!

Ben

The food at the weekend celebration was amazing. I ate three hot dogs, lots of chips, and some cake. I didn’t have any cola, only water. After an hour, I felt really hot and sick. I couldn’t stay to play games with my friends, so I called my dad to drive me back to my house immediately. When I got to my bedroom, my mother brought me a pill from the chemist to help my stomach. I rested and watched a film, but I still felt bad until Sunday afternoon.

Carla

I stayed until the end of my friend’s celebration, but I ate too many bad things! I usually never touch chocolate, but the birthday cake looked so beautiful that I had two huge pieces. By midnight, my stomach was in pain. When I finally went to bed, I stayed awake for hours in the dark because I felt so sick. I didn’t take any pills, though. I know what to do now. At the next birthday I go to, I am only going to put apples and salads on my plate!
