Beating the Hardest Level
Alex
I usually love platform games, but stage four of Jumping Hero was impossible! I tried to get to the end for three hours. My sister hates these games, so she didn’t want to join in. To find the right way, I looked at a clip on a popular website. It showed me exactly where to jump. Even with that, I still couldn’t do it. Then, my finger slipped and I pushed the incorrect button. Surprisingly, my character flew right over the highest wall! I didn’t mean to do it at all, I was just very lucky.
Ben
This weekend, I invited my cousin to my house so we could finish the most difficult level of Super Boy. We shared the controller and played for hours, starting early in the morning. After dying fifty times, I felt furious and shouted at the television screen. Another problem was the awful tune that kept playing on a loop. I had to turn the television volume down to zero because it gave me a headache. We didn’t look at our phones for advice, we just kept trying until we finally reached the end.
Carl
I spent a whole day trying to beat the final castle in my new game. After failing for two hours, I turned off the console to have a break and ate a sandwich in the kitchen. When I felt better, I tried again. I carefully practiced every jump so I wouldn’t make mistakes. I didn’t check my tablet for tips because I wanted to win by myself. I was playing for so long that I didn’t go to bed until midnight! The music was actually quite nice, but I was extremely tired the next day.

Creating Custom Game Characters
Leo
I love designing my heroes before playing. I always dress him in football shirts and trainers because I enjoy being active. I only use the items that don’t cost anything in the game. I never use my own pocket money for digital items! Before I create my hero, I look at short internet films to see what other players are doing. It gives me great inspiration. I don’t spend a long time on the design, though. I pick the first bright paints I see so I can start playing fast. My hero usually looks very brave and cool!
Maya
Building my in-game character is my favourite part. My avatar actually looks exactly like my older sister because I wanted her to be in the game with me! I used some cash from my birthday to get a beautiful gold crown for her. She usually wears winter coats and boots, not gym wear. I love giving her a different hairstyle and fresh boots almost every single day! I prefer to use my own imagination to design her, so I never watch what others do on the web. She is definitely the best-looking character in my group.
Toby
I don’t make my character look like me or anyone in my family. Instead, I try to make him look as strange as possible. He has huge ears, green hair, and a tiny nose, which always makes me laugh when I play! Choosing his outfits is the hardest part. It takes me hours to decide if his jacket should be purple or yellow. I am very careful about it! However, once I finally finish making him, I keep the same look forever. I never change his trousers or shirts again.

Playing Video Games at Night
Toby
I love playing games on my computer. Last Tuesday, I stayed up until 2 a.m. to win a match. Suddenly, I began to feel sick, so I shut down the machine and went to bed. The next day, I was very tired at school, but I completed all my schoolwork. My mother was angry with me. Now, I have a new plan. I do not play at night anymore. Instead, I like waking up at 6 a.m. to play before breakfast when it is bright.
Elena
My favorite hobby is gaming on my tablet. My older brother stays awake until midnight in his bedroom too, so we often play online games together. Last week, I stayed up so late that I felt quite unwell the next morning. I went to school, but I was so exhausted that I closed my eyes and slept in my history class on Wednesday morning! My teacher was not happy. My parents say that gaming is bad for my health. I need to change my habits and sleep earlier.
Lucas
I used to play video games on my smartphone all night in bed. When the lights are off, I feel much more tired, but I always wanted to play more. Because I was gaming for hours, I did not complete my school exercises last night. My teacher gave me a bad mark in our morning lesson. To fix this problem, my dad carries my smartphone out of my room before I sleep now. I do not have a brother to play with, so it is easier for me to rest quietly.
