Global Gaming Friends

Leo

Before joining this online gaming group, I felt quite lonely because finding close friends in my class was tough. Now, I play an awesome adventure game with people from different countries. My favorite teammate is a girl from Madrid. We play together on Saturdays, and I get to use my Spanish when we talk, which is great practice! I hope to visit her in Spain next year, but a plane ticket is too expensive right now. Last week, I saved my pocket money and bought myself a new keyboard so we can play better together.

Sophia

I love my online space game community. I have lots of friends at my local school, but playing online lets me meet teenagers from Canada and Germany. It’s fantastic because everyone in our team is fourteen like me. We all speak English, so it’s very easy to understand each other. We chat each evening after I finish my homework. My parents think it’s a completely safe hobby because I never tell people our home address. We just love talking about the game and sharing funny videos.

Oliver

I play racing games online. My mum and dad were quite anxious when I started because they thought the internet could be dangerous. But my teammates are excellent. Most players are much older than me, but they always help me. One friend lives in France. He actually sent me a cool gaming headset when I turned fifteen last month! We only catch up once a week, but we are very close. In fact, I flew to Paris last summer with my parents to see him and visit some museums.

A Board Game Turns Digital

Max

I used to play this board game with my family on our big kitchen table, but honestly, having it on my mobile is much better. There are no tiny plastic pieces to lose! When I downloaded it last week, I really didn’t know what to do. The directions weren’t clear at all, so I made lots of mistakes in my first few games. But now I win every time! The matches are very fast, which is great when you are busy. The colors on the screen are quite dark and boring, though.

Lily

I love this new app! The greatest thing is that I can invite my cousins in Australia to join my team, even though they live in another country. I picked up the rules very quickly because they are simple. The app is completely free, but it always stops to show you adverts. I gave the company three pounds to make those annoying messages disappear forever. One bad thing is that you must keep your charger with you. After just thirty minutes of playing, your phone will die!

Sam

Make sure you have a completely free evening if you open this digital game. It takes many hours to reach the end of the story and find a winner! I only play against the computer, never with online strangers. I don’t mind watching the short adverts because I prefer not to spend my own money on apps. The creators did a brilliant job with the menus and characters. Everything on the screen is so bright and beautiful to look at. It is a fantastic update to the old paper game.

Watching Live Game Streams

Adam

I usually sit in front of the screen with my breakfast before school to watch live gaming. My older cousin first showed me these websites last year, and I have loved them ever since! I don’t really watch to learn how to play better; for me, it’s just about having fun. Sometimes, if a video is really amazing, I give a few pounds from my pocket money to the person playing to say thank you. There are some breaks for shopping videos on the platform, but I don’t mind them at all.

Bella

Watching live games is my favourite hobby. I never spend my own money on these websites, though. Instead, I use them to find out new tricks. Seeing how experts pass difficult levels helps me win my own games when I play at home. My dad thinks it is a waste of time, but I love it. The best part is the next morning, when I chat with my mates in class about what happened in the video the night before. We always laugh about the funny mistakes the gamers make!

Carl

Some of my friends love watching famous Americans play online, but I prefer following people who live right here in the UK. It feels friendlier because we share the same culture and jokes. I usually watch in my bedroom after dinner, but never during the meal! The gamers I follow are very entertaining and always make me smile. However, I really hate it when the game stops suddenly and companies try to get you to buy their new drinks or clothes. It completely ruins the excitement of the video for me.
