New School Computers
Tom
I really like using the new computers in the tech lab. The display is much bigger than our old ones, which is great for watching videos. Also, when you press the button, it takes almost no time to turn on and start your work. At first, it was quite hard to learn how to open the new files, but I know how to do it now. The keyboard is silver, which is my favorite color, and it feels very comfortable when I type.
Hannah
The new machines in the lab are very good. They aren’t difficult to understand, so everyone can use them without asking the teacher for help. I often look at famous paintings online during history lessons, and they look great. However, I am not a fan of the bright red plastic outside—I prefer darker colors. Another great thing is that they don’t make any loud noises, so the room is peaceful now. Before, the old machines were always very loud.
Oliver
Our technology lab is much better now. I spend a lot of time on these computers making pictures for my digital design class. The dark blue color looks really cool on my desk. We always had to wait a long time for the old laptops to open up, so these are a nice change. My only problem is that the buttons are too small, so typing is hard for me. But the screen size is just right for reading text.

Reading Aloud in Class
Leo
When our teacher asks us to read a book out loud, my hands always shake. I really dislike waiting for my turn! But once I begin, I have fun. My favorite part is acting like the different men and women in the story. I make my voice very high or low depending on who is talking. Maya uses her phone to record herself, but I hate hearing my own voice! I just try to speak clearly so everyone can understand me.
Maya
I think reading to the class is the best way to get better at pronunciation. To prepare, I always read into my smartphone. Then, I play the audio back to find out which sounds I need to improve. It helps me a lot! When the teacher asks me to choose a book, I always pick something that makes my classmates smile and laugh. Leo likes scary stories, but I think that is boring. My little sister sometimes tries to read with me at home, but she reads too fast!
Toby
I am never frightened when I have to speak in front of the room. However, if the text has vocabulary that is new to me, I often don’t know how to say it. To get better, I sit in the living room and read out loud with my dad every evening. He corrects me when I am wrong. Because I practice a lot, my pronunciation is quite good now. When my friends in class say a word wrong, I quietly give them the right answer.

Learning with Colorful Maps
Leo
I really love geography, so I collect big, bright maps of the world. I don’t keep them hidden in a book; instead, I stick them on the walls right next to my bed! Before I go to sleep, I imagine visiting those places. In fact, my parents and I are using a map of Europe right now to decide where to travel for our summer journey. I like looking at them while I eat a snack. My teacher sometimes gives us maps to do homework, but I just read mine because it is fun.
Mia
I have a beautiful book full of maps. It was a birthday present from my grandfather last year. The colors are amazing! I don’t hang my maps up like some people do. Instead, I keep them on my desk because they are very useful when I have to write geography projects for my teacher. They help me get great marks! Sometimes, I get a blank piece of paper and try to paint my own maps of different countries. I love drawing animals, but my maps usually only show big cities and rivers.
Noah
My favorite maps are not the normal ones that just show roads and towns. I prefer looking at maps that have small drawings on them. It is so interesting to find out about popular dishes in different countries, like where the best cheese or bread comes from! I also have a great map of Africa that shows exactly where elephants and lions live. I am not travelling anywhere soon, so looking at these maps is my way of exploring. I am terrible at art, so I never try to make my own maps!
