Our School Trip to the Art Museum

David

Our teacher took us to the city art gallery on Tuesday. We went by train, and I really enjoyed looking out the window! When we arrived, a friendly woman who worked there showed us how to make beautiful pictures using simple pencils. I really loved that activity. The only bad thing was that we had to leave at two o’clock, so we didn’t finish walking through all the rooms. I want to spend more time there, so I am going to return with my mum and dad this weekend to see the rest.

Maria

Our museum trip was quite fun, but getting there wasn’t great. We travelled on a coach for two hours, and I just looked at the seats in front of me because I forgot my book. Once inside, we had plenty of hours to explore. My teacher told us to look at everything carefully. The colorful modern paintings were okay, but the ones from hundreds of years ago were definitely the best to look at. I wanted to get a postcard from the shop before we left, but I didn’t have enough cash.

Kevin

I had a fantastic time on our school trip! While some of my classmates sat down to practice sketching, I walked around the large halls. I captured so many great images of the sculptures and paintings on my smartphone to show my family later, because they were busy at work. Before getting back on the school bus, we had thirty minutes to look in the gift shop. I found a really cool poster of my favorite painting and used my pocket money to get it. It is going to look great in my bedroom!

Taking Notes in a Fast Lesson

David

When the teacher talks quickly, I cannot write fast enough with a pen. So, I always type everything on my laptop. Typing is much easier for me than writing by hand. I know some people like using red and blue pens, but my screen is always black and white. Because my typing is very clear, my classmates often ask for my help. I usually email them my document when school finishes. I never listen to the lesson again at home, I just read what I typed.

Emma

Taking good notes is hard when the teacher is speaking fast. I don’t try to write every single sentence. I just put down the main ideas and names on paper. I have a special system with my pens. I write dates in red and places in green, so everything looks tidy. I don’t use a laptop because I also like making quick shapes like stars or trees next to the text. It helps my memory! I usually keep my notebook secret and I don’t show it to anyone.

Leo

During a fast class, I prefer to just sit and look at the teacher. If I look down at a notebook, I miss important things. I don’t draw anything. Instead, I ask the teacher if I can use my smartphone to save everything he says. Then, when I am in my bedroom later that evening, I play the audio and write everything down carefully in a book. It takes a lot of time, but my notes are always beautiful. My friends want them, but I need them for my homework!

Classroom Debates: Protecting Our Environment

Lily

I loved the environmental debate! My teacher put us in small groups, and studying together was really fun. I am usually quite quiet in class, so I didn’t think I would say a lot. But when we started talking about recycling, I just couldn’t stop sharing my ideas! Some people felt worried before we began, but I felt fine. It was quite easy to look for details online. At the end, our teacher said my team had the strongest arguments, so we got first prize!

Max

When I found out we had to talk in front of everyone, I felt really worried. My hands were actually shaking before it was my turn! However, once I started speaking about saving water, it was okay. I didn’t win the competition, but I learned a lot. Before this, I didn’t think climate change was a big problem. Now, I believe we must do everything we can to help the Earth. I didn’t work with anyone else because I prefer reading alone.

Sofia

I have always cared a lot about animals and forests, so my ideas about the environment didn’t change at all. For my homework, I had to read about plastic pollution. It took me hours to discover the right details for my speech because many websites weren’t helpful. Even though my group didn’t come first, I still enjoyed the activity. I know I made a few mistakes while speaking, but I am sure I will be much better at our next class discussion.
