Fun with Science Experiments

Leo

I love science, especially when we leave the school building to study nature. Last week, we checked the water in the river near our town. I enjoy learning in the fresh air much more than sitting at a desk. At home, I also try finding out how things work. I mix stuff we have in our kitchen cupboards, like salt and sugar. One time, I made a model volcano. My clothes and hands were covered in brown water! My mum wasn’t happy, but it was really fun.

Maya

Science is my favorite subject because we get to test things ourselves. Some students enjoy looking at photos in textbooks, but I find that a bit boring. It is much more exciting to see things happen in real life instead of just reading about them. The best part is that our teacher always asks us to work in small groups. I love sharing ideas and finding the answers with my friends. We are going to visit a science museum soon, and maybe I will find out about jobs there.

Sam

Our school has a fantastic new science room with lots of amazing equipment. We don’t use simple things from home; we use real glass tubes and special lights! Yesterday, we mixed two clear liquids together, and they suddenly turned bright purple. I really didn’t expect that to happen, and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I used to think I wanted to be a doctor. However, because of these amazing lessons, I now know exactly what I want to do when I grow up: I want to be a scientist!

Solving Difficult Math Problems

Leo

Math is my favorite subject, but sometimes the homework is really hard. When I look at a difficult problem, I try to stay calm. If I work late at night, I usually do things wrong because my brain wants to rest. So, I always do my homework early. My older brother is good at math, but I want to do it by myself. When I finally get the correct number, I smile and feel fantastic. I sometimes go on the web to play math games, but not to study.

Maya

I am not very fast at numbers, so difficult math questions can make me feel tired. I found a good way to learn, though. When I read a hard question, I get a pen and make little pictures on the paper. Seeing the problem on the page makes it much easier to understand. I also invite my classmates to my house to practice. We talk about the problems together. My dad usually turns on the radio, but I have to turn it off because noise stops me from thinking.

Toby

I find math very difficult. I can’t study with my friends because we just talk and don’t do any work. I prefer to sit in my room and put my headphones on. Playing classical songs makes my mind clear. If there is a problem I really can’t do, I usually check websites that show you how to find the answer. If I still don’t understand, I go downstairs and talk to my mother. She is a science teacher and she always knows what to do. After finishing, I relax by painting.

Leo

I use a program called MovieMagic. It wasn’t cheap, but it’s amazing. There are so many unusual things you can add to your videos to make them look cool, like explosions or strange colours. When I first got it, it took me weeks to understand how to do everything. My brother tried to show me, but I had to watch online videos to get it. Also, make sure your PC is really modern and quick. If you have an old laptop, the software will just stop working. I usually make action films, not music videos.

Maya

My favourite video editor is ClipStar. The best thing about it is that you don’t have to pay for it! I didn’t know anything about editing until my older sister showed me what to do. She uses it a lot for her university projects. ClipStar works great even on my old, slow laptop, so you don’t need the newest technology to run it. I mainly use it to edit holiday videos before I show them to my friends. Sometimes I want to put them online, but I usually just save them on my hard drive.

Sam

I make a lot of dance videos, so SoundCut is the perfect software for me. It is brilliant if you want to add your favourite songs to your clips. It was really easy to understand right from the beginning, so I didn’t need to read any instructions. It doesn’t have many crazy visual changes to add to the screen, but I don’t need those anyway. What I love most is that when I finish a video, there is a button that sends it directly to my social media pages for my followers to watch.
