Dessert Cafes with a Spicy Twist

Chloe

I went to Sweet & Chili Cafe last Tuesday with my sister. It’s a wonderful place because it is located just a minute’s walk from my college building, so I can go there right after my lessons finish. We didn’t have to wait for a table, but the rock music they played inside was so loud that we couldn’t talk easily. I chose the lemon ice cream with hot pepper sauce. It was a strange mix, but I loved it! Best of all, the bill was very small—it really didn’t cost much money at all.

Daniel

My uncle told me I should visit The Pepper Bakery because he knows I love unusual food. It is a long way from my school, so I had to take a bus. The food there is quite expensive, but everything is fresh. I ordered a sweet mango cake with chili powder on top. However, the waiters were very slow, and it took nearly forty minutes for our plates to arrive. The dessert was wonderful, so before leaving, I bought two extra biscuits to carry back to my family.

Hannah

Last weekend, my classmates and I tried Spicy Treats Cafe. The staff brought our order in just five minutes, which was excellent because we were very hungry. They played some beautiful soft songs in the background, which I really enjoyed while eating. I tried a bowl of dark chocolate mixed with hot chili bits. It was sweet but very hot! The price was normal, not too cheap or too pricey. I ate everything there, so I didn’t need to take a box back with me.

A Terrible Dining Experience

Oliver

I went to a new burger café last weekend because I just turned 15. I hoped to have a wonderful dinner, but it was terrible. The waiter brought my meal quite fast, but the meat and chips were freezing! I usually eat everything I order, but I just couldn’t do it this time. I left most of it on my plate. I was so hungry and sad, but I still gave the cafe my money and walked out. I will never go there again.

Maya

I visited a pizza place near my school on Tuesday evening. When I walked in, nobody else was eating there, which I thought was strange. I ordered a cheese pizza and a cola. The cola was warm, and worse, the pizza was like ice! I didn’t want to talk to the angry waiter, so I asked for a box and left. I actually put the slices in the microwave in my kitchen before I finally sat down to eat them.

Lucas

My friends and I went to a famous chicken restaurant. The place was full of people, so we sat for more than an hour before our bowls arrived. When I touched the chicken, it was completely cold! I was very unhappy, so I called the manager. He was sorry and told us to keep our cash. The only nice thing was the fresh apple juice we had. We certainly didn’t take any food home with us because it tasted so bad.

University Canteen Meals

Harry

I usually eat at the university canteen every day, but I am starting to change my mind. The prices have definitely gone up since last year! Before, I could buy a large hot lunch, but now it costs a lot more. Because I don’t want to spend all my pocket money, I always pack an apple or some biscuits in my bag before I leave home. That way, I have something else if I need it. The plates here look huge, but they mostly just give you a lot of rice. I prefer to buy the meat dishes, but they are the most expensive things on the menu.

Sofia

The canteen is okay, but I never carry my own lunch from home. I actually think they serve you too much here! The bowls of pasta are so full that I can never finish everything. Because of this, my best mate and I usually just buy one meal and enjoy it together. It is a great way to save cash. Also, I always choose the vegetable dishes. The chicken and fish cost a lot more, so avoiding them helps me keep my money. I don’t think the prices are going up; you just need to know what to order!

Liam

I love eating at the university canteen because you only need a few coins to buy a hot dinner. It saves me so much cash compared to the cafes in town. However, there is a reason it doesn’t cost much. The meals are quite small, and my stomach is usually still empty after I finish! I always buy the beef burger or the fish, but I could easily eat a second one. Even though the portions are tiny, I still think it is a brilliant place. I would never give half of my food to someone else, though!
