A Funny Weekend by the Water
My name is Ben, and I am fourteen years old. Last weekend, my dad decided to take my older sister, Anna, and me on a camping and fishing trip to a large lake. My dad really loves fishing, but Anna and I had no experience. Before the trip, dad went to the sports shop and bought some expensive new fishing rods for us.
On Saturday morning, my dad woke us up at five o’clock. It was incredibly cold and dark outside. We got into the car and drove for two hours to reach the water. When we arrived, my dad quickly prepared the equipment. He told us that we had to sit completely quietly and wait for the fish to bite.
We waited in silence for three hours. Suddenly, my dad shouted excitedly. Something was pulling his line very hard. “It must be a huge fish!” he said. He pulled the line out of the water, but there was no fish at all. He actually caught an old, dirty boot! Ten minutes later, Anna tried to catch something, but her line got stuck in a large tree branch.
In the end, we did not catch a single fish the whole weekend. Instead of fresh fish for dinner, we had to eat cheese sandwiches. However, we laughed about the old boot and the tree branch all evening. It was not a successful fishing trip, but it was definitely a fantastic family weekend.

A Very Blue Saturday
Last Saturday, I had a very different weekend. I usually play football in the park with my friends. However, my dad asked me to stay at home because he needed my help. Our garden fence was old and looked terrible, so we decided to paint it.
First, we drove to the large shop in town to buy the things we needed. My mum said she wanted a nice green colour for the fence. But when we arrived, my dad let me choose the paint. I immediately picked a bright blue one. We also got two large brushes and carried everything back to the car.
We started working right after lunch. The sun was shining, and it was quite hot. I really enjoyed using the big brush, and I worked very fast. My dad was painting the top of the fence much more slowly. He told me to be careful, but I was just having fun.
Suddenly, I walked backward and my foot hit the open pot of paint. The pot fell over, and the bright blue paint went all over my old clothes, my arms, and my face! I was completely blue. The Sunday Night Feeling
My name is Sam, and I am fourteen years old. It is Sunday evening, and I am sitting in my bedroom. I always feel a bit sad at this time of the week. The fun weekend is over, and tomorrow is Monday. I have to go back to school, but first, I need to pack my school bag.
I really don’t want to do it. This weekend was amazing. On Saturday, I played football in the park with my best friends, and we won our match. Then, on Sunday morning, I slept until eleven o’clock and watched two great movies. I wish I could just play sports and relax every single day.
Now, I am looking at my messy school bag. I empty it on my bed and find some old biscuits and a broken pen. I throw them in the bin. Then, I check my timetable. I have math, science, and history tomorrow. I put the right books into my bag and check my pencil case. Suddenly, I remember a small math worksheet! I quickly sit at my desk and finish it.
Finally, my bag is packed and ready by the door. I put on my pajamas and get into bed. I am still a bit sad about the weekend, but then I remember something good. We have art class on Monday afternoon, and I absolutely love drawing. Maybe tomorrow won’t be so bad after all.
