Leo’s Mountain Preparation

Fifteen-year-old Leo is going on a school trip to the mountains next Monday. He is going to stay there for seven days. He feels a bit nervous because he usually forgets to take important things with him. To help himself, he decided to write a long list before he opened his suitcase.

First, Leo looked at the weather online. He saw that it will be quite cold and there might be some snow. Because of this, he put three warm sweaters, some thick socks, and his heaviest winter jacket into the bag. He almost left his walking boots in the cupboard, but his dad reminded him to pack them.

Next, Leo thought about what to do in the evenings. He really wanted to take his new laptop to play video games with his friends. However, his teacher told everyone to leave their computers at home. Instead, Leo packed his favourite book and a small camera. He hopes to take beautiful pictures of the wild animals in the forest.

Finally, it was time to close the suitcase. It was completely full and extremely heavy! Leo had to sit on top of it so he could pull the zip. Now that everything is ready, he is not worried anymore. He is just incredibly excited and cannot wait for the amazing adventure to begin.

Toby’s Clever Suitcase

Fourteen-year-old Toby is very excited. Next week, he is going on a school trip to Edinburgh in Scotland for five days. Two years ago, Toby went on a winter holiday with his family, but he didn’t pack his bag very well. He took lots of T-shirts and shorts, and he felt extremely cold all week!

Because of that terrible experience, Toby always checks the weather on his smartphone before he puts anything in his suitcase. He looked at the forecast for Edinburgh yesterday. The app showed that the weather will be quite sunny on Monday and Tuesday, but very windy and cold. Then, there will be heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon.

Toby used this helpful information to choose his clothes. He packed some sunglasses for the sunny days and a warm sweater for the wind. He didn’t put his big winter coat in the bag because it is too heavy. However, he packed a small yellow umbrella for the wet weather in the middle of the week.
