Sam’s Natural Collection
Fourteen-year-old Sam has a very interesting hobby. Many of his friends like collecting stamps or old coins, but Sam prefers finding things in nature. He lives next to a large, quiet forest, and he loves spending his free time exploring it to look for unusual rocks and beautiful leaves.
Sam started this hobby last autumn during a science trip with his class. While they were walking in the woods, he found a shiny black stone and a strange red leaf. His science teacher, Mr. Davies, told him they were very special and said that collecting natural things was a great idea.
Now, Sam goes to the forest every Sunday morning to find new items. When he brings them home, he washes them carefully and puts them in big plastic boxes in his bedroom. His younger sister thinks his hobby is quite boring and dirty, but his parents are very happy about it. Last month, they even bought him a huge book about different types of trees and rocks.
Next term, Sam wants to share his amazing collection with his classmates. He is planning to organise a small exhibition in the school library so everyone can see what he has found. When he finishes school, he hopes to work as a scientist and travel the world to find more incredible things.

However, these animals usually only come out very early in the morning, and Sam hates getting out of bed!
