A Green Weekend in the Woods
Fifteen-year-old Leo loves spending his free time in the forest. He often goes camping with his parents. Last month, his friends at school said they wanted to try camping too. However, Leo knew they usually left a lot of rubbish after picnics in the park. He decided to take them on a weekend trip and teach them how to look after nature.
Before the trip, Leo gave his friends some important rules. He told them not to bring drinks in plastic bottles. Instead, everyone had to pack a metal cup. Also, Leo didn’t put their snacks in paper bags. He used big plastic boxes from his kitchen because they could wash them and use them again.
When they arrived in the forest, they walked for an hour and then put up their tents. In the evening, they cooked a delicious dinner over a small fire. After the meal, Leo showed his friends how to clean their plates with just a little water. They put all the leftover food into one special bag to take back home.
The next morning, it was time to leave. The teenagers looked around the campsite. His friends were amazed because the grass and trees looked perfect. There was absolutely no rubbish anywhere. They felt very proud of themselves. Now, they are already planning their next green camping adventure!

A Different Kind of Holiday
Last month, my family and I went on a holiday to the seaside. Usually, we stay in a big city hotel, but this time my parents booked a special eco-friendly hotel. I was a bit unhappy at first. I thought it would be boring and uncomfortable.
When we arrived, the manager explained how the hotel works. It doesn’t get its electricity from the town. Instead, there are large solar panels on the roof that catch energy from the sun. Because of this, the rooms don’t have televisions, and I couldn’t play on my computer all evening. But actually, I didn’t mind. I spent my evenings reading books and playing board games with my family.
Another interesting thing is that you cannot find any plastic there. In normal hotels, you often get plastic water bottles in your room. Here, they gave us beautiful glass bottles to keep. The restaurant was amazing too. They served delicious food on wooden plates, and we drank nice cold juice from metal cups.
Before this trip, I never really thought about nature. Now, I understand that we all need to do things to help our planet. It was the best holiday of my life, and I am already asking my parents to go back there next summer!
