Our Favorite Weekend Lunch
Mia
On Saturdays, I always go to a small Japanese café near my house. I love their chicken noodles. I cannot eat food that burns my mouth, so this dish is perfect because it has a very mild taste. I usually go there with my sister, and we order one big bowl for the two of us. We never have to stand outside for a table because we arrive very early. I don’t order anything like cake or fruit when I finish because I am always too full!
Carlos
My favorite weekend lunch is a green curry at a Thai restaurant in my town. It is on a very peaceful street with no traffic, which I really like. The people who work there always smile and talk to me, making me feel welcome. The curry is full of chili, so you need to drink a lot of water with it! It is a very popular place, so you must phone them on Thursday or Friday to get a seat for Sunday. My friends don’t like Thai food, so I just go by myself.
Emma
There is a brilliant Japanese sushi place in the city centre. It is always full of people and very loud! They don’t take reservations, so I often stay in a line on the street for thirty minutes before I can get a table. However, the fish is amazing, so it is fine. I usually get a lunch box with rice and salmon. After my main dish, I always ask for some green tea ice cream. I love finishing my lunch with sugar! The waiters are very busy, so they don’t have much time to chat.

Our Favorite TV and Study Snacks
Oliver
I usually feel hungry when I sit at my desk to read my coursebooks or finish my math exercises. I don’t want to get sick or put on weight, so I always pick fresh vegetables like carrots, or an apple. Some of my friends love eating big pieces of cake while they read, but I actually hate sugar! I also prefer taking everything straight from the fridge to eat right away, so I never cook or heat anything up. It is quick, easy, and keeps me awake!
Chloe
I love preparing my own bowls of popcorn. I never ask my parents to do it for me! I mostly eat it at the weekends when I am enjoying a long movie on the sofa, not when I am busy with my classes. Popcorn with lots of salt isn’t great for my teeth, but it tastes amazing! My younger brother loves it too, so we usually sit together and I let him have half the bowl. We always finish everything by 7:30 p.m. because we aren’t allowed to eat right before we go to sleep.
Daniel
When I am watching my favorite sports programs on television, I really need a snack. My mum usually buys large packets of biscuits for me from the supermarket. I have a huge love for anything with lots of sugar, like chocolate bars or fruit juice! My absolute favorite is a large cup of milk with cocoa. I put it in the microwave for a minute because I hate drinking it cold. It is delicious! I hide my snacks in my bedroom so my friends can’t find them, which means I eat every last bit myself!

Making Spicy Fried Chicken at Home
Tom
I love making spicy fried chicken. My grandmother showed me exactly what to do, so I don’t use a cookbook. I cover the meat in hot pepper and salt, and then I keep it in the fridge for about two hours. This makes it taste amazing! After that, I cook it in a large pan with a lot of oil. I know some people like sweet sauces on their chicken, but I prefer it salty. I always have it with fresh tomatoes and lettuce because it is healthier that way.
Sarah
My brother loves my spicy chicken. I watched a video online to learn how to make it. Instead of buying everything in one bag from the shop, I like putting different spices together myself. To make it really special, I mix in a little honey before I cook it. It tastes great with the chili! I don’t use a pan on the stove because it is too messy. I just put the pieces in the cooker to bake for forty minutes. They come out perfect and crispy every time!
Mike
Cooking chicken at home is fast and easy. I don’t mix my own flavors. I just get a packet of hot barbecue powder from the supermarket and use that. It has all the right spices in it! I usually cook it immediately because I never want to wait for it to get cold first. I have a special machine called an air-fryer. It uses hot air to cook the meat, so you need absolutely no fat or butter. It is much better for you than traditional frying!
