The people below all want to find a community park clean-up event to join.

There are descriptions of eight volunteer events.

Decide which event would be the most suitable for the people below.

Anna wants to volunteer with her young children, so the event must be suitable for kids. They don’t have any equipment, so tools must be provided. They are only free to help out on Sunday mornings.

2   Tom wants to collect rubbish from the park’s lake, as he loves water. He hopes to learn facts about the local wildlife while volunteering. He works early, so he needs an event in the afternoon.

Elena is a teenager looking for a regular, weekly clean-up event. Instead of just picking up litter, she wants to plant new flowers. She also hopes to make friends with other people her own age.

4   David is older and wants a gentle volunteering task, like sweeping paths, rather than heavy lifting. He is free on Saturday mornings. He would love an event that finishes with a shared meal for the volunteers.

5   Sarah and Mike want to fix broken park furniture, like wooden benches. They own plenty of tools, so they will bring their own. They’d like an event with live music to keep everyone entertained while working.

Park Volunteering Events

A Green Sundays

Bring the whole family to improve our green spaces! We welcome little ones to join the fun. You don’t need to bring any bags or gloves, as we hand out everything you need. Meet us at 9:00

a.m. on the last day of the weekend to work before lunch.

B River Rescue

C Youth Eco Group

We meet every seven days to make our park beautiful! This group is specially designed for young people aged 13 to 18 to socialize and work together. Instead of collecting trash, our main job is putting colourful seeds and new plants into the earth. Come and join the fun!

D Morning Sweepers

Start your weekend right at 10:00 a.m. on the first day of the weekend! We focus on brushing leaves and dirt off the walking routes, which is perfect for anyone wanting light exercise. Afterwards, everyone sits down together to enjoy a free hot lunch to say thank you.

E Builders & Beats

Help us repair the damaged wooden seats and tables in the picnic area! We ask volunteers to arrive with their own hammers and saws, as we do not supply any equipment. While you work, a local band will play fantastic tunes to keep everyone smiling throughout the sunny day.

F Park Protectors

Join our Sunday morning volunteer group! We spend a few hours collecting heavy litter from the main fields, and then we provide delicious sandwiches for everyone to enjoy. Please note that because this activity involves difficult lifting, nobody under the age of eighteen is permitted to take part this week.

G Clear the Coast

We are looking for energetic volunteers to clear rubbish from the riverbanks every Saturday post-lunch. It’s a great way to enjoy the afternoon sun by the water. Unfortunately, our usual animal expert is away, so there won’t be any educational talks about the local creatures during this session. Please bring gloves.

H Teen Woodworkers

Calling all teenagers! Join our weekly club where we build and mend wooden birdhouses and park fences. You must use our safety-tested equipment, so please leave your personal items at home. We always work quietly to enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature, without any loud entertainment or bands.
