A Quiet Weekend to Study

My name is Mark, and I am sixteen years old. This weekend is very important for me. On Monday morning, I have a big maths exam at school. I really need to get a good grade, so I planned to stay in my bedroom and study all day on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday afternoon, I opened my books and started reading. Suddenly, I heard some really loud music. It was coming from the house next door. Our new neighbors, the Smith family, were having a barbecue in their garden. I tried closing my window, but the noise was still too loud. I couldn’t learn anything.

I knew I had to do something, so I decided to go outside and talk to them. I felt quite nervous because I didn’t know the family very well. I walked up to their fence and smiled. Mr. Smith came over, and I politely explained that I was trying to prepare for a school test.

Doing the Right Thing

My name is Charlie and I am fourteen years old. Last Tuesday afternoon, I was walking home from school when I saw something on the street. It was a brown leather wallet. I picked it up and looked inside. There was no name or address, but there was some money and a cute photo of a small dog.

I decided to find the owner, so I started knocking on my neighbours’ doors. First, I went to Mrs Smith’s house. She told me that she had a leather wallet, but hers was black, not brown. Next, I asked Mr Jones, but he said his wallet was in his pocket. It was getting late, and I was feeling a bit tired.

Finally, I walked to the last house on the street. A young woman called Sarah lived there. She moved in last month. When she opened the door, she looked very worried. I asked her if she lost something. She said she couldn’t find her wallet and told me about the picture of her dog inside it.
