A Special Book of Memories

My name is Chloe and I am fourteen years old. Every December, I usually buy Christmas presents for my family from a big department store. But this year, I wanted to make something special for my grandparents. I decided to create a beautiful photo album full of old family memories.

First, I had to look for the photos. I found three heavy boxes in our garage. They were full of thousands of pictures. It was a very difficult job because they were in no order at all. I spent two whole weekends looking at them. I carefully chose the best pictures of my grandparents when they were young, and some nice photos of my parents as babies.

Next, I bought a large, empty book from a craft shop. I slowly glued the pictures onto the pages. Under every photo, I wrote a short message about the memory. My older brother, Ben, helped me remember some names and dates, but I did all the writing and designing by myself.

Now, the album is finally finished. I have wrapped it in shiny red paper and put it under the Christmas tree. I am so excited for Christmas morning. I know my grandparents don’t need expensive clothes or chocolates. I am sure this album will make them very happy.

Why My Parents Are Right

My name is Leo and I am fourteen years old. Sometimes, I think my parents are the strictest in the world. I have to be home by eight o’clock on weekends, and I must always finish my homework before I watch television. My friends don’t have these rules and they can do what they want.

Last month, my best friend Sam invited me to go camping in the forest. I was very excited and asked my parents. However, my dad said no because the weather on the news looked bad. He also said the forest is too far from our town. I was really angry and spent the whole evening in my bedroom.

But on Saturday, a terrible storm arrived. It rained heavily all weekend and the wind was very strong. I was warm inside my bedroom, reading a book. On Sunday, Sam called me. He said the camping trip was a disaster. Their tent broke, they got very wet, and Sam even lost his new phone in the mud.

After I heard that, I went downstairs to talk to my parents. I gave my mum a big hug. I finally understood that their rules are not there to make me sad. My parents just want me to be safe and happy. Now, I don’t mind when they say no to me.
