Max’s Rescue Mission

Twelve-year-old Max has a very important weekend planned. While his classmates usually spend their Saturdays watching cartoons or playing football, Max has a different idea. He is organizing a large search party. His main goal is to find a missing white rabbit that belongs to his elderly neighbour, Mrs. Higgins.

To prepare for the search, Max asked his friends for help at school. He didn’t just tell them to look outside. He made a careful plan. He drew a large map of the neighbourhood and gave everyone a specific street to check. He also told them to bring small torches and some fresh carrots because rabbits love eating them.

Yesterday afternoon, the search party started. At first, Max was a bit worried. The neighbourhood was very big, and there were lots of places for a tiny animal to hide. However, after two hours of looking under bushes and behind cars, his friend Sam shouted loudly. The rabbit was sitting quietly inside an empty cardboard box in a dark garage!

Next week, Mrs. Higgins is going to bake a special chocolate cake to thank the boys. Max knows that organizing a group of people is sometimes difficult and takes a lot of energy. However, seeing his neighbour smile when she got her lovely pet back was the best feeling in the world.

I sat on my bed and waited. Exactly two hours later, my phone rang. A nice woman called me because she saw my post on the internet. She was waiting with Max outside the local supermarket!
