Searching for Bella
Fifteen-year-old Toby has a beautiful black cat called Bella. She usually sleeps on his bed during the day and comes to the kitchen for her food every evening. But last Friday, when Toby called her name for dinner, she didn’t come. Toby looked everywhere in the house, but he couldn’t find her. He felt very worried.
On Saturday morning, Toby decided to make a poster. He chose his favourite photo of Bella and wrote his phone number under it. He went to the library and printed one hundred copies. After that, he spent the whole afternoon walking around his town. He asked people to put the posters in their shop windows, and he left some at the bus stops.
On Sunday, Toby still didn’t have his cat. He went out again to put more posters near the local park. In the afternoon, his phone rang. A woman said she saw a black cat in her garden. Toby ran to her house, but it was the wrong cat. He went back home feeling very sad.
Later that evening, Toby went out to the garden to look one last time. Suddenly, he heard a quiet noise behind the garage. He looked inside an old box, and there was Bella! She was very hungry but completely safe. On Monday, Toby was happy to walk around town again to take all his posters down.
