Maya’s Green Idea

Fourteen-year-old Maya lives in a busy city with her parents. Her family had two cars, but they usually only drove one of them. The second car was quite old, and it cost a lot of money to keep it running. After Maya watched a TV programme about dirty air in cities, she decided her family had to make a change.

One evening, Maya talked to her mum and dad. She asked them to sell the old car. At first, her dad was worried. “I use it every weekend to go to the supermarket and the sports centre,” he said. A Quiet Day in Town

Fourteen-year-old Lucas lives in a small town. Usually, it is a quiet place, but the main street is always full of noisy cars on weekends. Families cannot ride their bikes safely, and the air smells bad. Lucas wanted to change this, so he thought of a great idea: a “car-free Sunday”.
