The Teenager Behind the Family Restaurant

Sixteen-year-old Linh lives in a big city, where her parents run a traditional Vietnamese restaurant. They opened ‘The Golden Bowl’ ten years ago, before Linh started school. The restaurant serves famous meals like pho and grilled pork. Because her parents are always busy cooking, Linh goes there every day after school to help them.

When Linh was younger, her only job was washing the dishes. However, she is older now, so she talks to the customers and takes their orders. This can be quite difficult on Saturday evenings. The restaurant is full, it is very noisy, and hungry people often speak very fast! But Linh always smiles and writes everything down carefully.

Last month, Linh’s father decided to add fried spring rolls to the menu. Linh wanted to help him sell them, so she drew a large, colourful poster and put it in the restaurant window. Because of her beautiful picture, many people came inside to try the new meal. Now, it is the most popular dish they make!
