Giving Up Sugary Fizzy Drinks
Oliver
I used to have a large cola every afternoon. However, my older sister explained that it was a terrible habit, so I decided to quit. The biggest reason was the cost. I kept all my shopping receipts and saw I was throwing away a lot of cash every month! Since I gave sweet drinks up, my body has changed, and my sports trousers actually feel much looser on me. I thought I might get a pain in my head without my daily cola, but actually, I feel fantastic and full of energy.
Chloe
I loved sweet, fizzy lemon drinks. My brother still buys them, but I stopped completely last year. I went for a check-up, and the man who cleans my teeth told me the sugar was destroying them. He told me to drink water instead. Also, before I stopped, I frequently got terrible pains in my head during afternoon classes. I always felt sick! Now, those problems are gone. I still go to bed quite late, so I am often tired, but my health is definitely much better.
Mateo
My main problem with sweet, fizzy drinks was that I was always awake at midnight. The sugar gave me too much energy, and I really wanted to get a longer rest at night. Quitting was hard at first. Buying fresh juice isn’t cheap, but then I tried putting pieces of fresh strawberry and mint into cold water. Now, it is the only thing I want to drink! I haven’t got any thinner since I changed my habit, but I finally get eight hours of deep sleep every night.

Dealing with Exam Stress
Tom
Tom gets very anxious about his school tests. To feel better, he goes to the kitchen and bakes sweet biscuits or bread. Making delicious things helps him relax. He also loves sitting with his older brother to play board games in the evening, which stops him from thinking about hard lessons. After dinner, they usually watch a funny comedy show together. Tom says that smiling a lot is the best way to clear his mind. He never listens to music when he is stressed because it makes him lose focus, and he prefers staying inside where it is warm.
Anna
Anna finds exam weeks very difficult. When she feels worried, she always sits at her desk and draws pictures with colorful pencils. She likes this hobby because it means she doesn’t look at her phone or computer display at all. While she paints, she always turns on some soft classical music. Hearing these beautiful, quiet sounds helps her feel completely calm. Sometimes her mum invites her to go for a walk outside, but Anna prefers being alone in her quiet room until she feels happy again. She doesn’t like cooking or watching television when she is stressed.
Liam
Liam stays healthy during his exam weeks by leaving his house. He loves spending time in the fresh air, so he goes to the local park every afternoon. Sitting under the trees helps him feel good. When his mind is too busy with math rules, he puts on his trainers and goes for a long run or a cycle around the lake. Doing exercise is excellent for his body and completely removes his stress. He never takes his smartphone with him because he likes the quiet. His sister sometimes joins him, but they don’t talk about school.

Healthy Morning Routines
Oliver
I get up at 6:00 a.m. every single day, even on Saturdays and Sundays. The first thing I do is open my window, step out into the garden, and move my arms and back under the sun. My brother prefers to stay inside, but I love the morning breeze. I always turn on the radio to hear some great pop tunes while I get ready. It makes me feel awake! For my first meal, I just have cold apple juice and some bread. I never cook in the evenings because I prefer to make everything fresh when I wake up.
Daniel
My alarm rings at half past six. I like the house to be completely quiet, so I never use my phone or listen to anything. First, I boil some water to make a large cup of green tea to warm me up. After that, I stretch my legs on my bedroom floor. I always do this alone because I need to think about my day. Then, I go to the kitchen. I don’t like eggs or meat. Instead, I always have a bowl of yogurt with lots of fruit and honey. It is delicious!
Sophia
During the week, I have to wake up early for my classes, but I always sleep for an extra hour on the weekends! My morning is very busy, so I prepare a bowl of oats and milk the night before and leave it in the fridge. I don’t eat sugar or honey in the mornings. Before eating, my sister and I spend fifteen minutes doing yoga. We bend and stretch together in the living room. She is much better at it than me! After our healthy breakfast, we catch the bus to school.
