Quick Morning Smoothies

Max

I love waking up to a fresh strawberry and banana smoothie. Because I am always in a hurry in the morning, I wash and slice everything before I go to sleep. Then, I just put it in the machine when I wake up. I don’t buy recipe books; instead, I watch videos on different websites to find fresh ideas. My sister hates fruit, so she never wants to share my breakfast. Also, I usually leave the dirty cups in the kitchen until I get home from school.

Lily

Making a healthy morning drink takes only five minutes. I don’t look online for ideas because my grandmother gave me a brilliant recipe book. My favorite trick is to mix an apple with some green plants, like spinach. You can’t taste the leaves, but they are great for you! The machine can be hard to wash if food dries inside it, so I always do the washing-up right away. I never make just a single cup, because my little brother always drinks half of it!

Omar

For my daily morning drink, I mix oranges, melon, and lots of ice. It needs to be freezing, or I just can’t drink it! I usually go to the local supermarket to look for the lowest prices. I only pick up the fruit that is on sale, which saves my pocket money. I always chop everything up right after I wake up, not at night. I know some people put carrots in their breakfast, but I prefer my drinks to be completely sweet!

Cooking Eggs

Liam

I think the best way to prepare eggs is to leave them in a pan of water that is completely boiling. It is important to watch the clock, though. Exactly six minutes is perfect if you want the inside to be soft. My sister always eats hers with toast, but I prefer to eat them plain. Actually, I often make extra and leave them in the fridge. They are a great chilled snack when I return from school. It is much easier than frying, which leaves dirty oil everywhere.

Chloe

My favourite breakfast is eggs cooked in a hot pan with a little butter. I always put them over a thick, warm slice of toast. It is delicious! I usually have a large glass of milk while I eat. The only problem is that making the kitchen tidy afterwards takes a long time. The fat jumps out of the pan and gets all over the walls. It isn’t a quick meal either, so I only do this on Sunday mornings when I don’t have to look at my watch.

Noah

I always mix my eggs in a bowl before I put them in the pan. To make them really soft, I stir in a small amount of milk and some salt. You have to move them around constantly, but they are ready in just a few moments, so it’s a great choice if you are in a hurry before school. You must eat them immediately, though. They taste terrible if they lose their heat. I wash my plate in warm water right away so the kitchen stays clean.

Kitchen Accidents

Alex

Last weekend, I wanted to make soup at my sister’s house. I didn’t have my own kitchen things, so I borrowed hers to slice the vegetables. Her knife was very sharp, and I made a big mistake! I cut my finger. Strangely, it was not painful at first. I only felt bad a few minutes later! I just washed my hand and put a plaster on it, so I didn’t need to visit the hospital. Because I was alone, I just cooked the rest of the meal quietly.

Jamie

I was chopping some large onions for a big family dinner. The television was off, so I was carefully watching what I was doing. However, the vegetable slipped and I injured my hand badly! It wouldn’t stop bleeding, so my dad drove me to the medical centre. A nurse had to clean and close the deep cut. While I was away, my dad stayed in the kitchen and made the rest of our dinner. We didn’t throw anything in the garbage, but I couldn’t use my hand for days!

Sam

I invited three classmates to my apartment for a meal on Friday evening. I was using my favourite knife to prepare the onions. Unfortunately, my mobile beeped with a video message. I turned my head to watch it and completely missed the vegetable! It hurt immediately, and I cried loudly. The pieces of onion fell on the dirty floor, so I dropped them all into the trash can. We couldn’t eat them! Instead of a homemade meal, my mates and I ordered a pizza.
